Your first stop
You have already made the first and most vital move towards debt reduction, you have admitted that you need some help and are looking for the resources that can help. Now you need to find out more about all of the debt reduction services that are available to people in your position. There are ways that you can get yourself out of the debt that you are in and for most it is much more effective to use debt reduction services than to go it alone. What are the debt reduction services that could help you?
Get the answers that you need
You can find out all that you need in order to make a sound and informed decision about what debt reduction programs you should take to become debt free at a credit counseling agency. Many of the agencies are non-profit and will offer all of the information that you need to make the next move. When you meet with a credit counselor they will take a good look at your financial situation, including the amount of money that you owe, the amount that you make each month, and the amount of money that you need to live on each month. They will then offer you some advice about the various debt reduction services that they or another agency will be able to offer you as well as the pros and cons of each of the debt reduction services.
Only when and if you enroll in a debt reduction program offered by that agency will they ask for a nominal fee that is often only suggested and always affordable. They will then work on your behalf to first negotiate with your creditors and then set you up with a payment plan that is simple and flexible. You could have your finances back under your control after the first visit. Of course it will take time to pay off all of the debt that you have incurred even if you enroll in a debt reduction plan, but it will be less than half the time that you would spend doing it on your own. There are options available, but it is up to you to go out and seek them.
